MOUNT PLEASANT — Police have arrested a man suspected in last week's robbery of the Wachovia Bank on 507 Coleman Blvd.
Authorities took Lewis Gerald Thompson, 43, into custody late Tuesday on a charge of armed robbery, Mount Pleasant police Sgt. Steve Meadows wrote in a press release. Thompson, an Awendaw resident, was being held at the Charleston County Detention Center today awaiting a bail hearing.
Meadows said a man had entered the bank branch around 5:15 p.m. Friday and gave tellers a note threatening violence, but never showed a weapon.
