Jeff Young dropping out of 98th district representative race

— Mount Pleasant fireman Jeff Young of Summerville has dropped out of the race as a Democratic challenger to Republican state Rep. Annette Young in November.

Jeff Young turned in a letter of resignation Monday, Dorchester County Democratic Party Chairman Steve Yeomans said.

Jeff Young had gone against the party by endorsing Republican presidential John McCain for president, but that wasn't the reason he gave for dropping out, Yeomans said. Young cited another job offer that would be a conflict of interest, Yeomans said.
