Suspect surrenders to police on murder charge; man accused in fatal beating

The Post and Courier
Friday, July 11, 2008

A man whom detectives identified as a suspect in a fatal beating outside an Upper King Street business turned himself in to face a murder charge on Thursday night, Charleston police said.

Authorities have accused William "Dontrell" Myers of participating in an attack on 38-year-old Corey Logan outside Lana Market a few minutes after midnight on June 28. Logan died Sunday from head injuries suffered in the assault, the Charleston County Coroner's Office has said.

Police have said that three men beat Logan outside the late-night grocery after he tried to talk them during a confrontation with another man. Authorities have not publicly identified any other suspects.

Myers, 28, was scheduled for a bond hearing today.

He did the right thing by turning himself in. I'm glad that the family of the deceased got justice. Lock him under the jail and let him make friends with roaches and earthworms.

OK, pop him on the back of his hand (with a soft ruler) and let him back out on the streets to kill again.

Granny2,

If he gets in front of Judge Roger Young for bail at any point, that is possible based on Young's own track record.

I am apologetic for what I am about to say but this POS needs to be dealt with swift and ruthlessly....

Believe fellow posters I truly wanted to get down right vulgar with what should be done with this piece of ANAL SLIME....

I am just glad that they family can somehow have some type of closure.

To HELL with all the KILLERS, RAPISTS, MOLESTERS, THE JUDGES THAT CONTINUE TO LET THESE VERMIN OUT TO WRECK HAVOC ON SOCIETY, etc, etc, etc.

Wait a minute. Am I understanding correctly that they beat this man to death because he intervened during an argument that the perps were having with a third party? This cant be right. Someone please clarify.

PBW,

From other accounts it has been said that the 3 jumped on the first guy and the 2nd guy tried to stop the fight, then they turned on him and beat him to death. Guy #1 ran away.
