— A local man was bitten in the forearm by a shark this afternoon while swimming at the beach near 31st Avenue.

The 24-year-old Isle of Palms man paddled out from the beach about 2 p.m., said Fire Chief Ann Graham.

"He said the shark jumped out of the water and bit him," Graham said.

Police and firefighters combed the beach, warning swimmers to stay out of the water. The shark wasn't spotted again.

The man was taken to a local hospital, and his condition was not serious, Charleston County EMS said.

You better watch out for those jumping sharks.
It must have been high on PCP.
