Parish moved to Georgia detention center

The Post and Courier
Tuesday, July 8, 2008

Convicted economist Al Parish is currently being housed in a county detention center in south-central Georgia.

Parish is in the Irwin County Detention Center in Ocilla, Ga., about an hour's drive north of the Florida state line, a jail official confirmed.

The U.S. Marshals Service moved Parish out of the Charleston County Detention Center on Monday, where he had been for about 10 days following his sentencing last month.

Calls to the Marshals Service this morning were not immediately returned. For security reasons, the agency does not comment on travel plans of federal prisoners until their destination is reached.

Parish, 50, was sentenced last month to a 24 1/3-year federal prison term for committing fraud against hundreds of investors in which nearly 600 people lost more than $66 million.

Screw the federal prison, they should just make him serve out his sentence there. Nothing like a rural Georgia prison for some good rehabilitating
