Clemson's Davis to return for senior season
Running back received approval from both the NFL and Clemson's compliance department to return
By Larry Williams
CLEMSON It's official: James Davis is set to return to Clemson.
According to sources familiar with the situation, Davis has received approval from both the NFL and Clemson's compliance department to return for his senior season with the Tigers.
Davis, a tailback who earned first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference in 2006 and 2007, had a change of heart in the past couple of days after announcing last week he would skip his senior season and enter the NFL Draft.
The deadline for underclassmen to declare for the draft was Tuesday, but the NFL allows a 72-hour grace period to rescind the declaration.
Clemson's compliance department and athletic director Terry Don Phillips signed off on Davis' return after determining he hadn't accepted anything from an agent. Davis then received approval from the NFL, which had a deadline of midnight for him to convey his decision in writing.

Dummy, he should have stayed from the get go. When the NFL draft advisory committee told him he was projected as a 3rd round pick, he should have changed his mind then about going pro. However, I'm not a Tiger fan, but I hope he would be able to go back and at least get his DEGREE.

if he is allowed to return, it only spells great things for the tigers in 08. regardless if he goes pro or not, he would always be able to return and get his degree. haha, there aren't rules preventing people from getting an education

good thing he is coming back. who would run the team or call the plays. he would never do what he has done to a spurrier run team. he sure knows how to toy with the putty kats. as far as worring about him coming back, pleeeeeeeeeze. what did he avg 2.2 yards against usc and even less against the real tigers. you guys kill me. when he was going pro yall couldnt wait for him to go, calling him every name in the book. its so funny. not even the nfl wants him
