Minister arrested after posting bail
Moore jailed on molestation charges separate from accusations made in '06
Accused molester Pastor Tyrone Moore spent a year scrounging together bail money to get out of Berkeley County's jail. But when he finally succeeded Tuesday, police slapped him with more charges and hauled him off to a new cell.
The North Charleston minister already stood accused of molesting seven young men. The latest allegations involve one of those same victims and another young man who had not previously been connected with the case, authorities said.
None of the cases are expected to come to trial for several months, but prosecutors have announced their intention to seek life without parole for Moore, already a two-time convicted sex offender.
The latest arrest affidavits detail incidents in which Moore, 41, allegedly fondled two boys at his Gordon Street church, Full Word Ministries, between 2004 and 2006. One boy told police he was fondled about 10 times in the pastor's office between the ages of 12 and 13. Another boy accused Moore of fondling him several times over a two-year period, starting when the boy was 13, arrest affidavits stated.
North Charleston police obtained warrants to arrest Moore in those cases in December 2006. But there was no pressing need to serve the warrants at that point because Moore was ensconced in the Berkeley County jail on a host of other molestation charges related to incidents at his Goose Creek home, police spokesman Spencer Pryor said.
Moore was unable to come up with money to post the $1.2 million bail set at that time. A judge later reduced his bail to $500,000, but Moore couldn't post that amount either, authorities said.
In December, Circuit Judge John Few further reduced the minister's bail to $85,000, which was finally posted Tuesday, authorities said.
Before Moore could take a breath of freedom, however, North Charleston police served him with the two outstanding arrest warrants and whisked him over to the Charleston County jail, Detective Sgt. Jerry Jellico said.
Moore was being held at the jail late Tuesday on two counts of committing a lewd act on a minor. His bail is set at $100,000.
Eduardo Curry, a local attorney who was representing Moore, was temporarily disbarred by the state Supreme Court last year for two events of misconduct. On Tuesday, Curry referred questions about Moore's case to attorney Seth Whipper, who could not be reached for comment.
No one answered the door at Moore's church during an afternoon visit. Church officials have long been reluctant to address the controversy publicly, preferring to focus on their worship. Long after his previous arrest, however, church members continued to express unqualified support for their beleaguered leader.
Moore, a married father of four, was initially arrested Nov. 21, 2006, and charged with molesting a 17-year-old male at his church between 2002 and 2003. In the weeks that followed, he was charged with molesting that victim and six others at his Goose Creek home. His accusers range in age from 11 to 21.
Moore pleaded guilty in 1989 and 1991 to sexually abusing two girls while serving as choir director at his grandfather's church, Reformed House of God in North Charleston. One victim was an 11-year-old choir member who had been staying at his grandfather's house. The other was 9-year-old choir member whom Moore had sexually abused for four years.

Clearly this is someone that is very sick mentally. He was already a two-time sex offender when they picked him up in November of 2006. What I don't understand is why the judge constantly kept lowering his bond. It's almost like the justice system wants him to post bond and be free to destroy the lives of more innocent children. This is clearly a case where this man needs to be locked away for life because he's proven over and over that he will strike again. And in reference to the lowering of the bond, it makes you wonder how much the justice system really cares about society!

Circuit Judge John Few should be required to take Darkness to Light's "Stewards of Children" child sexual abuse prevention training program. (go to darkness2light.org for more information.)
As a matter of fact every Judge, and lawyer, in the state should be required to take the training as well as the "worshipers" in the molester's church.
Child sexual abuse is an epidemic in this country and it's up to all adults to do their damnedest to prevent it.
I do hope Seth Whipper is smart enough to drop this client. He's not worth the money and should be put out with the trash.

So, it is only Catholic priests that do these things? As people can see, any man regardless of race or religion can molest children. This guy really has a track record.
They can call themselves priests, ministers, pastors, or whatever, but a "true Christian" would not particpate in this type of behavior.

JohnQ-are you sure you posted for the correct story??? If you did, you are an idiot. Republican, democrat, independent, communist, Christian, Catholic, Buddhist, doesn't make a difference the only fact here is CHILD MOLESTER. That equals a monster that should be put to death, just as he killed his victims’ innocence.

granny, it makes me so angry that people whom children should trust hide behind their titles and do the devil's work not God's. They cause all people of this vocation to look bad, and it is not right.
When God gave man freewill He never said go forth and molest the little children.

sad so sad. this man comes from a wonderful and spiritual family. Grandfather, father, and siblings are in various types of ministries. they must be so hurt by his behavior and the pain he has not only caused to his own family, but to his parishoners and most especially his victims.
it just goes to show that hidden in every family could very well be such a monster.

Same old story, once a child molester, always a child molester. When will we learn to have NO TOLERANCE for these monsters? Lock them up forever after the FIRST offence. It is a well known and proven fact there is NO CURE and this comes out of the mouths of some of the molesters themselves. Lets hold our legislatures accountable in making sure the laws are changed so that these people are not released back into society. We need to hold them to it in the next election. I am sick of the sound of this broken record.

"Moore pleaded guilty in 1989 and 1991 to sexually abusing two girls while serving as choir director at his grandfather's church, Reformed House of God in North Charleston."
"Moore, a married father of four, was initially arrested Nov. 21, 2006, and charged with molesting a 17-year-old male at his church between 2002 and 2003."
Maybe I'm not reading this correctly but, doesnt this mean that he was made a Pastor after he had already admitted to having sexually abused two girls while he was a choir director?
Who the hell would elect someone who has plead guilty to sexual child abuse, to be their Pastor?

One other comment, where is the accountability of the church? Was there a background check? It is so easy to go online and check the sex offender registry, I do it all the time.

The most pitiful thing of all is that we have figured out that people like this man can't be freed and given a chance to return to society. Our most difficult task is reconciling this very unpleasant reality with the fact that we are not a police state. In that area, there is still a lot of work to be done concommitant with preserving our civil liberties and dealing with these kinds of individuals realistically.

Mick20SC - Have you ever heard of FALSE PROPHETS? In the New Testament, Jesus warned against them in. In the Old Testament, go to the Book of Jeremiah - it discusses them in detail; shepherds leading the flocks astray so to speak. I would think you should know about that. Can you be that blind as not to see all of the charges involved here? This is not a conspiracy to get your minister.

Once a molester, always a molester! I feel so sorry for the children that he victimized. They will be scarred for life and some may turn into molesters themselves because of this.

Mick20SC says "DONT JUDGE UNTIL HE IS FOUND GUILTY " sweety did u not read the article. im not judging but lets face it here. he is guilty not once, but has been charged and found guilty 2 times. and yet here is another charge. if people arent killing the innocent children of the world, they are raping them and its ridiculous. what the heck is this world coming to.

First and foremost, the church couldn't do a background check on him because he was the founder of this ministry. I’m sure people that followed him in the ministry were well aware of his past. They were drawn to the ministry because of his great ability to teach God’s word. What we all fail to realize is that he's human and he deals with everyday issues just as everyone on this post does. Unfortunately, his issues may be more serious than others. I thought one was innocent until proven guilty; it’s evident that everyone here has already convicted and sentenced him. I don’t know if he’s innocent or guilty; however these are very serious allegations. I pray that everyone involved in this matter will seek counseling both spiritual and clinical. If these allegations are indeed true, I’m sure justice will prevail.

Did you not read my post? I grew up with this guy and he has been doing this for years! You wouldn't be saying that if he had molested one of your kids! You are thinking more about him than his victims and like someone said, these are the ones we know about. Again, you would be singing a different tune if he had molested one of your kids!! You can't be so religious where you don't realize that you are still on the earth and there are evil people.

being a christain requires more than just playing the part in church. Yes we all sin and fall short, but you are suppose to confess and repent of your sin to be saved. Pastor did neither. He kept his lie until he got caught. Please read your bible , when it talks about judging others. What the bible talks about is the ultimate judgment to rather we are going to heaven or hell. We all make judgements every day. What to eat, who to associate with ,What pastor we like or dislike. Judgement are made every day..by you me and eveyone else. We can't Judge Pastor T eternal resting place. But we can judge his action hear on earth.

Burton, I too have known Pastor Moore all of my life. If you read my post, you will see that I've mentioned all involved. I happen to know some of the alleged victims as well. I also know of some that haven't come forth. This is a very unfortunate situation, and I'm praying for all those that are involved. The sad part about all this is all these parents knew about his past. The parents allowed their kids to hang out at the church and spend nights at his house. So are the parents not accountable. I don't have the need or the desire for him to babysit my children. If he is indeed guilty of these charges, yes he should be punished. Everyone is entitled to his/her opinion. This will be the last comment I make on this subject because I have better things to do. God's Blessings to All....

Once a child molester always a child molester.
We must protect our children and listen to them when reports of abuse are made. Many children are made to feel they are some how responsable for the abuse they endure. It takes courage to tell some one that abuse is taking place. Listen to your children. Protect them from an abuse that can affect their entire life. It is one thing to forgive, it is another thing to give trust. Trust should earned once lost. Just because I forgive you does not mean I TRUST you.

I think the pastor has a background we don't know about. Predatory adults were almost always victims as children. Ask any cop. I'm not an apologist for this man, but sexual abuse rarely happens in a vacuum. I'd bet a week's pay Mr. Moore has been violated or otherwise sexualized in his youth.

for ANYONE to say that the alleged victims must have liked it is as FAR FROM a true Christian as anything!!!!!!
for ANYONE to turn a blind eye to someone calling for help and to turn around and blame them is a sick individual.
you want to support Mr. Moore? go right ahead, i'm sure he could use it.
but your false spirituality is apparent to everyone when you say such things as this: "IF THESE CHILDREN CLAIM TO MOLESTED WHY DID THEY KEEP GOING. THEY WERE OLD ENOUGH TO KNOW RIGHT FROM WRONG. THEY MUST HAVE LIKED IT."
"NO BECAUSE I HAVE THE LOVE OF CHRIST WITHIN ME IF THAT HAPPEN TO ONE OF MY KIDS IT WOULD NOT CHANGE BECAUSE GOD IS STILL GOD NO MATTER WHAT I WOULD HANDLE IT ACCORDING TO THE WORD"
for a mother or father to say that if their pastor molested their child they would still support him out of some misguided sense of loyalty is a danger to those children and to themselves.
shame on you for allowing your blind loyalty keep you off of the path righteousness.
shame shame

hey you all speaking negative about the situatiton, you better pray god. you dont get catch slipping, because i know you would need mercy also. also the whole thing is to see it like this. not standing or taking up for him but praying for hi.m you all have to understand it is an attack of the enemny.YOU JUST CANT GIVE HIM ANY ROOM. because yes he do have a past, but the enemny comes with nothing new. i am not saying that the kids are lieing i am simply saying pray for every one involed. that they all be restored that is all. wither he is right or wrong.to god be the glory WE ALL HAVE DONE SOMETHING.. JUST NOT THIS. SO JUST REMEMBER TO HAVE COMPASSION.JUSTICE WILL PREVAIL IN THIS.. JUST STOP THROWING STONES I JUST KNOW TO LOVE.. I DONT LIKE IT EITHER BUT I LEARN YOU HAVE TO LOVE IF NOT. YOU ARE HOLDING YOUR OWN SELF BACK. FROM THE THINGS OF GOD..SOMETHINGS ARE A MATTER OF CHOICE SO CHOOSE TO LOVE IF YOU CANT DO IT. IN YOUF OWN STRENTH DO IT THROW THE LOVE OF GOD.. IT IS OKAY MAYBE YOU JUST DONT UNDERSTAND IT .ALL ABOUT LOVE.. IT IS DEEPER THAN YOU THINK STOP TRYING SO HARD TO UNDERSTAND IT. IS NOT FOR YOU TO DO.. ONCE AGAIN LOVE IT IS FOR YOU NOT MOORE..

First, let me start by saying everyone did not know that he was a child molestor as the church stated. I was his family through marriage and still didnt know. What i did hear was he went to jail and he was about 19 and the girl was about 16. It was said to be consentual and he was innocent. The church hid this information, so they need to stop lying every one did not know. Second, I know some of the kids that said he molested them, and they were not lying. I know this for a fact. I also know because he tried to come on to me. Third, if he ever had touched my child, he wouldnt have to wait for a judge, I would had played God and killed him myself. You dont touch anyones kids, thats how kids grow up messed up for life. Im just waiting for the trial. Dont get me wrong dude wasnt all bad, he had a positive side, but wrong is wrong dont matter who you are or what little good you do.

this comment is not one coming from someone based on pure emotion, but based on fact, eye-witness testimony...
This also is set as awarnig to all who have loved ones in the SCDC...
I too am a minister, and likwise was incarcerated with Tyrone Moore at the Lieber Correctional Institution. what's the difference in he him and I?
I contiued to grow in God's grace while Tyrone was allowed by the SCDC officials to target young men in the pennitentiary....Because of his ability to "put on a show" through worship services, he was knowinggly allowed to prey on the unsuspecting young men, who were very vulnerable and having for the first time in their lives, deal with the reality of adulthood and th enegative decisions that they had made.
If you have a young person incarcerated continue to encourage him, because he needs you not some false sense of hope from some of the sick people who are allowed to propigate themselves as leaders.
