Discussion planned on marathons
The Charleston Running Club will feature a panel discussion on the lure of the marathon during its regular monthly meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at West Ashley High School's auditorium.
A panel of experts will provide insights on why the 26.2-mile event draws people from an array of athletic abilities and backgrounds. The panel will include the following people:
-- Bob Schlau, a two-time Olympic marathon trials qualifier who has been running for 45 years.
-- Dr. Noah Wasliewski, a College of Charleston assistant professor of sports medicine.
-- Art Liberman, author of "The Everything Running Book" and online running coach.
-- Joan Mulvihill, a runner who has just completed her 50th marathon in 50 different states.
-- Patt Loggins, co-owner of The Extra Mile and multiple Ironman triathlon finisher.
-- Brian Johnson, a top local runner and coach for Charleston Southern University's cross-country team and Charleston Running Club's Bridge Run Clinic.
-- Kim Lyle, representative with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society's Team in Training.
