Broadcast students compete at convention
The Broadcast Journalism III and IV students from James Island Charter High School traveled to Anaheim, Calif., on Jan. 16-20 to participate in the Student Television Network National Convention.
Students participated in on-site competitions ranging from live reporting to music video.
Katherine Merkel competed in the Live Reporting category, Ar'breauna Brown competed in the Anchoring category, and Caroline Cooper competed in the Collaborative Commercial category. Bradlee Jackson and Dominique Gray competed in the Tell The Story Editing category in which they won first place.
Other students who received awards in broadcast journalism in "The Student Choice Awards," sponsored by SchoolTube.com, were Jamie Bellah, who won the Pets and Animals category with her video "Lazy Ways," and Brandy Bates, who won the Travel category with her video "Folly Beach."
