Barberitos makes burritos its order of business, impressing with fresh, natural ingredients and an adherence to accountability.
The Southwestern-styled restaurant posts its menu's nutrition facts on a large poster-board, engendering trust, and likely loyalty, from its diners.
They're not trying to scoot anything past you. A flour tortilla has 310 calories, 70 fat calories; 3 ounces of rice 140 calories, 0 fat; a soft taco shell 90 calories, 20 fat calories. A cheese quesadilla has 24 grams of protein — didn't know that.
The strategy has helped the chain make inroads into the South with almost 20 stores overall, including locations in the Carolinas, Tennessee and Georgia.
Just make no mistake — the food's the draw.
The grilled chicken taco salad ($6.29) is a favorite. It comes in a taco shell with the requisite extras, lettuce, beans, cheese and salsa. But you've gotta add some flair, a sauteed veggie medley (99 cents) with green peppers, onions, spinach and mushrooms. Good stuff.
Enjoy a burrito or taco with grilled chicken or steak, or try the Super Vegetarian ($5.79) with sour cream, guacamole and lettuce, or the Vegan Burrito ($5.99) with rice, beans and tofu.
On Fridays, Barberitos sells its popular jerk fish tacos, grilled fish, cheese, guac, cilantro and lime. The California burrito's also a good bet: rice and beans, freshly sliced avocado and a Southwestern vinaigrette on a whole-wheat flour tortilla.

Back in 1985, when I was just 10-years-old, my buddy Andy Nelms and I spent the entire summer trying to catch lizards. Every time we would catch one, we would put it in a container, label it and observe the lizard's behavior. Fast forward 25 years later, and wouldn't you know it, I still make poop jokes.

After reading this review I had to check out Barberitos. The food is outstanding and so fresh tasting, makes me wonder why i have been settling for any other southwestern food. I got the steak heavy D on a whole wheat tortilla with cheese lettuce Pico guac and sour cream. It did not end there I ordered sauteed onions and green peppers in the burrito. It was without a dought the best burrito I have ever had, and I will be back soon.

It's hard to find fresh, healthy food for a good price in the Charleston area. When I read the Barberitos review in the Post and Courier, I knew that it was the kind of restaurant I had been searching for. Everything is fresh, wholesome and delicious. I tried their new California burrito because they use fresh sliced avocados, which I love love love. I definitely recommend Barberitos to anyone who is looking for an alternative to unhealthy eating.

It's ok, really no different then moes ,or any other burrito joint.

I agree but does moes or any other burrito joint grille their own meat and use real avacadoes in their guac. I saw Barberitos grilling and cuting avacadoes on their line. When I went to moes they did not have a grille and used sealed bags of cut (by whoo knows) meat that they just reheated. I dont want chicken like that.
