Meeting scheduled on landfill plans
Wednesday, February 13, 2008
Sheppard Construction Co. of Mount Pleasant is hosting a community meeting to answer any questions residents might have about plans to build a construction and debris landfill on about 100 acres between Ravenel and Jacksonboro in the southernmost portion of Charleston County.
The open session will be at 6:30 tonight in E.B. Ellington Elementary School, 5600 Ellington School Road in Ravenel. Duke's BBQ is catering an open buffet at the school at 6 p.m.
Only waste from construction sites, such as sheet rock, concrete, lumber and yard debris, would be allowed at the proposed landfill, which would be located off U.S. Highway 17 South by Parker's Ferry Road.
