Wachovia hit second time
Bank robbed twice in a month; may be same man
The Post and Courier
North Charleston police investigate the Monday robbery of the Wachovia bank adjacent to the Gaslight Square Shopping Center.
A highly visible Wachovia bank on Rivers Avenue was robbed Monday for the second time in 28 days, and police think the same man might be behind both attacks.
The bank is located at 5561 Rivers Ave., adjacent to the Gaslight Square Shopping Center.
In both instances, the robberies came on a Monday at about 10 a.m. The suspect in both robberies is a white male, possibly Hispanic, in his 40s. Bank employees also identified Monday's robber as the same person in both holdups. The first robbery took place Jan. 7.
Monday's robber wore a white jacket with the word "Baltimore" on the back. He has dark hair and was wearing glasses.
In both hits, a man gave a handwritten note to a teller advising them to cooperate and no one would be hurt. No weapons were displayed in either incident. Each time, the suspect left the bank with an undisclosed amount of money. No one was hurt in either holdup.
After both incidents, the robber ran down the sidewalk in front of the businesses in Gaslight Square toward Remount Road before heading to the back of the shopping center.

A woman who answered the phone at the branch Monday afternoon declined comment. Customers who were turned away while a technician looked for fingerprints were taken aback. "Hit again?" one man said.
North Charleston Police cordoned off the area around the shopping center for about an hour Monday to look for the suspect.
In 2007, North Charleston reported seven bank robberies. There have been two so far this year, both at the Wachovia.
The branch has been robbed at least twice before, in 2000 and 1995, according to Post and Courier archives. Both incidents led to arrests.

Doesn't this bank have cameras? There has to be an image of this guy somewhere that the NCPD can use to catch his happy butt before he strikes again! And the same bank! And making it look so easy! I hope noone reads this and starts thinking "hey, I can do that"!

The suspect in both robberies is a white male, possibly Hispanic, in his 40s. Why didn't they say a light skinned male. He is either white or he is Hispanic.
Sorry, I don't mean to nitpick, but that statement is incorrect. Not very PC of the P&C is it?

There is a surprise here?
Like I said last week the NCPD and now the FBI (the same people who want to scan your iris and print your palms) can't catch the crooks.
This guy made two withdrawals inside of 30 days. Time to mark his account CLOSED!
