Boy dies after falling from truck
Wednesday, December 31, 2008
FORT LAWN — A 7-year-old South Carolina boy has died after he fell from a stolen pickup truck.
The Herald of Rock Hill reported that John Jerchon Bailey Jr. of Fort Lawn died on state Highway 9 on Monday afternoon after he fell from the cab of the truck.
Fort Lawn Police Chief Mike Revels said police have charged 17-year-old Antonio Celey Jr. with driving without a license. Revels said more charges are expected.
Officials said George Katergaris left his pickup at his restaurant in Fort Lawn on Sunday afternoon and reported it was gone when he went to the restaurant Monday.
They say he spotted the truck and was following it when the boy fell out of it.
