DIAMOND DEVILS CAMP: The Charleston Preseason Baseball Camp will be held Jan. 17-18 at the College of Charleston's Patriots Point Complex. The camp is for ages 10 and up, and has individual and team rates. The camp director is John Rhodes of Diamond Devils Baseball. The camp coordinator and hitting director is Monte Lee, the new CofC coach. The pitching director is C of C assistant Dan Roszel. MOUNT PLEASANT RECREATION DEPARTMENT BEGINNER TRACK AND FIELD REGISTRATION: Registration for the MPRD FUNdamental track and field (for ages 5-8) and beginner track and field (for ages 9-14) will take place Jan. 5-16. Practices will be at Park West Track beginning Jan. 26. Beginner practices are on Mondays and Wednesdays at the Park West Track and FUNdamental practices will take place Tuesdays and Thursdays. CHARLESTON STORM BASEBALL TEAM TRYOUTS: To be held Jan. 10 at 1 p.m. at Charleston Southern. The tryout is for ages 14-18, and will be conducted as a pro tryout, including 60 times, pitching, catcher pop times, infield, outfield, and hitting. There is no charge to try out for the team. CHARLESTON BRAVES TRYOUTS: The Charleston Braves will hold tryouts for the spring season on Jan. 17 at Academic Magnet High School. Tryouts for 9U-12U will begin at 9 a.m. Tryouts for 12U-15U will begin at 1 p.m. For more information, call King Walker at 870-1713.

INDIVIDUAL/GROUP BASEBALL LESSONS W/ COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON ASSISTANT BRENT WALSH: Lessons can be at Patriots Point or parks can be worked out to suit the players location. Instruction can be on hitting, defense, baserunning, pitching or mental approach. Thirty or 45 minute sessions are best but arrangements can be made to suit players needs. MOUNT PLEASANT BASEBALL WINTER SPEED PROGRAM: Instructed by the Citadel's Head Speed and Strength Coach Todd Lair. This Mount Pleasant Recreation Department program is open to all interested participants ages 13 and older or in grades 7-12 and will be held at Town Hall Field. Registration is now open at all Mount Pleasant Recreation Department facilities. CIP ADULT HOCKEY LEAGUE: Begins new 12-game season January 11. We have four divisions: Over 30 "A", Over 35, B and C. Cost is $245 per player for the Over 30 and 35 leagues.
