Goose Creek man killed in I-26 crash
Thursday, December 25, 2008
A 23-year-old man was killed in an accident Tuesday night on Interstate 26 in Dorchester County, the Highway Patrol said.
The crash occurred between Harleyville and Ridgeville a few minutes before 9 p.m. as a driver and a passenger were headed east in a moving truck, Lance Cpl. Bob Beres said in an e-mail.
The vehicle left the road and hit a tree head-on, killing the driver.
Dorchester County Coroner Chris Nisbet said that Johnathan Junior Baxter II of Goose Creek was pronounced dead at the scene from massive head trauma.
The driver and the passenger were wearing seat belts, Beres said. The passenger was taken to Medical University Hospital, the Highway Patrol said. His name and condition were not available.

This breaks my heart...JJ was the sweetest, most considerate young adult that I've met...very quiet and sincere, ever thoughtful...he will be missed. I am praying for the Baxter family this Christmas..what should have been a wonderful Christmas for JJ and his new 1-month-old is now devastating. This is horrible news.
