Single mother is raising her son without child support
Jill and Ben separated when their son, Danny, was an infant. Jill does her best to raise Danny alone, while Ben refuses to pay child support. Additionally, Jill has numerous medical problems that cause financial strain, and her prescription co-pays are more than $200.
Jill is fortunate to work for a small company that allows her time off for medical reasons. However, they are unable to pay her in her absence. A Good Cheer agency has been assisting Jill and Danny with food, clothing, rent and utilities while Jill is sick.
Every year since 1927, needy people have been given reason to be cheerful at Christmas because of the generous contributions made to the Good Cheer Fund. Six local charitable organizations share the contributions. The Salvation Army, Star Gospel Mission, Association for the Blind, Catholic Charities, Carolina Youth Development Center and Lowcountry Food Bank receive every cent of each donation. There are no overhead or administrative costs involved, and funds are not distributed to any individual or organization outside the Good Cheer Fund agencies.
Send your tax-deductible contribution to the Good Cheer Fund, c/o The Post and Courier, 134 Columbus St., Charleston, SC 29403-4800. Contributions received by noon on Monday will be listed in The Post and Courier on or before Christmas Day.
