Subways give groups a day of recognition
Based on the idea of the "12 Days of Christmas," the Subway restaurants of greater Charleston celebrated the "12 Hours of Christmas" on Dec. 11.
Twelve local service organizations — one each hour for 12 hours — were recognized and thanked with gifts of Subway sandwiches for their staff, employees and patrons.
The honorees included: The St. Stephen Volunteer Fire and Police Department; the Independent Transportation Network of North Charleston; the Charleston Association for the Blind; Charleston Habitat for Humanity; Trident United Way; Pet Helpers Adoption Center at 1447 Folly Road; People Against Rape; Mount Pleasant Meals on Wheels; Metanoia, at 2005 Reynolds Ave. in North Charleston; Children in Crisis of Dorchester County; and Life Care Center of Charleston.
Six Subway markets in Georgia and North Carolina also participated in the event. In total, 94 service organizations throughout the southeast received a total of 2,000 sandwiches delivered throughout the day.
