Police make arrest in cabbie, delivery-driver robberies

The Post and Courier
Thursday, August 28, 2008

North Charleston police think they have rounded up most of a crew responsible for up to a half dozen robberies in the Dorchester Terrace area of the city since June.

Four teens have been arrested in connection with the holdups, which include a Yellow Cab driver earlier this month and a delivery driver from a Chinese restaurant last month, the department said in a release. Officers continue to search for at least one more person.

"More charges are anticipated and more suspects are possible," Detective Lt. Scott Deckard said in a statement.

Police gave this list of arrests and charges:

--Antwan Riley, 16, one count of armed robbery

--Terrance Palmer, 17, one count of armed robbery

--Gerard Riley, 19, three counts of armed robbery and one count of common-law robbery

--Unnamed juvenile, two counts of armed robbery

--Police also have obtained a warrant to charge Jessie Grant, 18, with armed robbery

I'm going to bet that most of these kids have been in trouble before. They'll serve their sentences(I'll guess about 2 years), but they'll get educated while in prison. Educated on how to commit bigger, more lucrative and more violent crimes.

Maybe they'll get angry about splitting the money that they steal, and shoot each other; maybe they'll get killed in prison. I can't have any sympathy for them; they made the decision to assault and rob working people instead of going to school and getting a job. Nothing but laziness and greed.

Where are the mothers? Probably in the projects, on welfare, saying their sons are "such good boys". Where are the fathers? They probably don't know who or where their fathers are, or the fathers are in prison or dead. Like father, like son.

I wonder if the mothers will get evicted from their government housing, since an "occupant" of the apartment has committed a violent crime.

Regardless, we'll be picking up the housing & health care tabs for these guys. I'd estimate the bill to be around $160,000 if they each serve 2 years. Great. Pathetic.

OK, Obama, what's your plan to do about today's youth? After all, the Democrats think you are the second coming!
