Birth date and place: Sept. 1981 in Baton Rouge, La.

Residence: Recently moved to James Island.

Family: Husband, Tom; brother, Todd; and parents Buddy and Sharon.

Occupation: I taught second grade for three years in Knoxville, Tenn. I am looking for a teaching job in Charleston County.

Education: M.S. in child & family studies and a B.S. in early childhood education, both from the University of Tennessee.

most fulfilling aspect of my job: For me, the most fulfilling aspect of teaching is definitely the interaction with students. Every day there are new and exciting questions or conversations!

Specialty dish: I make a fantastic spaghetti pie, which is a recipe I stole from my mom!

Talents/Hobbies: Tennis, joining my husband on the golf course, being outdoors, walking my dog, watching football.

Something I like about the area: There are lots of activities to do outdoors. I like living close to James Island County Park as well.

Favorite Childhood memory: Family vacations at Sunset Beach in North Carolina.

celebrity I have met: Actor Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding from "Saved By the Bell.")

Favorite sound: The sound of the waves at the beach.

Where else in the Lowcountry I would like to live: Definitely downtown, because there is so much to do.

Pet Peeve: Bad grammar!
