First day of school starts early at Ashley Ridge

A slight buzz in the intercom was the only apparent hitch on opening day of the new Ashley Ridge High School in the growing Dorchester School District 2. Students started arriving at 6 a.m. Thursday, and the halls were full at 6:30, even though classes didn't start until 7:25, because the buses that dropped off students had to go out and get more. Officials were tabulating how many students showed up in schools throughout the district, hoping there wouldn't be more than the 600 new students they planned for. Superintendent Joe Pye was there to check it out and give his assessment. Read more in Friday's editions of The Post and Courier.

So what is going to happen when the school is at capacity? Right now there are only 9th and 10th graders - will they start collecting them from the bus stops @ 5:00AM? My child attends there and the bus arrives @ 5:45AM, but drops him off @ 4:15PM. Doesnt leave much time for homework, family and dinner, does it?
