Legare Farms CSA: Legare Farms on Johns Island is adding 25 more shares for the fall season of its Community Supported Agriculture program. Buyers receive a weekly or monthly basket of produce and farm products. The fall shares are $180 for 10 weeks of vegetables. Call 559-0788 or e-mail legarefarms@bellsouth.net.

Festival poster: Friday is the deadline for the $1,000 poster design contest for the 2009 BB&T Charleston Food + Wine Festival. Artists 18 years or older and local residents (Charleston, Berkeley or Dorchester counties) can submit original art for consideration.

Designs should illustrate Charleston's unique culinary culture and food scene while representing the festival. The artwork also must incorporate the festival's signature wine stain (available with the application). The winning design will be on posters and festival merchandise. Log on to www.charlestonmag.com to download an application. The festival will be March 5-8.

Whiskey Trail: McCrady's barman Ben Mill and chef Sean Brock hold a whiskey education program. Upcoming topics are Sept. 1, "All About Ryes"; and Sept. 15, "America's native spirit, Bourbon." Call 577-0025 or www.mccradys.com. The restaurant is at 2 Unity Alley.

Summerville Kitchen Tour: Ten homes and gardens and gourmet goodies from Lowcountry chefs will be part of the sixth Scrumptious Summerville Kitchen Tour on Oct. 12. Local musicians also will perform and the work of local florists will be on display. Proceeds benefit Children in Crisis.
