Robert L. Tennyson has joined Community FirstBank as vice president and commercial lending officer. He has more than 20 years of experience in the financial services industry, and formerly worked with Wachovia Bank for 14 years, most recently as a real estate financial services credit manager. He has a degree from the University of South Carolina.
Education
Shirley Hinson has been named director of government relations at the College of Charleston. She previously was the director of corporate and community relations with the Lowcountry Graduate Center. A Goose Creek resident, Hinson served in the S.C. House of Representatives from 1996 until 2007. She has a degree in elementary education from the College of Charleston.
Mary Dickerson has been named statewide director of FastTracSC, which offers training programs for small-business owners. She is based at the Charleston Metro Chamber of Commerce, which introduced the Kauffman Foundation FastTrac program to the local area. Previously, Dickerson was a business consultant for the S.C. Women's Business Center. She also worked as chief financial officer for a mechanical contracting business in Beaufort and has more than 15 years of experience in the retail and hospitality industries.
Engineering
Sara Katsanevakis has joined the structural engineering firm of Tobias & West LLC as a structural engineer in training. She has a degree in civil engineering from Clemson University.
Amelia Burrell has joined HEG LLC Engineering Consultants as project administrator and marketing coordinator. She has a business degree from the University of South Carolina.
Law
Mary Joyce Carlson, John C. Duane, William S. Norton and Daniel C. Rome have joined the securities and consumer fraud practice at Motley Rice LLC of Mount Pleasant.
Carlson has more than 25 years of experience in labor, health care and employment law. She is former general counsel to the health care division of the Service Employees International Union and served as deputy general counsel of the National Labor Relations Board. She has a law degree from Duke University School of Law.
Duane formerly was with the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of South Carolina and has worked as a law clerk for U.S. District Judge C. Weston Houck. He has degrees from the College of Charleston and the University of South Carolina School of Law.
Norton has worked at the U.S. Attorney's Office for the District of Massachusetts. He has degrees from the University of South Carolina and Boston University School of Law.
Rome previously was compliance manager at Automated Trading Desk LLC. He has degrees from West Chester University of Pennsylvania and Widener University School of Law.
Cherie W. Blackburn has joined Nexsen Pruet as a partner in its Charleston office. She will practice with the employment and labor law group. Blackburn, who also is president of the Dee Norton Lowcountry Children's Center, has more than 20 years of experience in employment and business litigation. She has degrees from Emory University and the University of South Carolina School of Law. She also has an associate in arts degree from Oxford University. She previously was a partner at Nelson Mullins Riley & Scarborough.
Marketing
Virginia Perry has joined the Charleston Regional Development Alliance as marketing services manager. She will manage the organization's Web site, electronic marketing programs and sales support materials. She also will plan special events for the public-private group, which works to attract new employers to the region. Perry has a marketing degree from Southern Methodist University.
Medical
Dr. Frampton Henderson III has joined Northwoods Family Practice LLC in North Charleston. He has a biology degree from Wofford College and a medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. He recently completed the Trident/MUSC Family Medicine Residency Training Program.
Dr. Peter Carek, a faculty member in the Medical University of South Carolina's Department of Family Medicine, also has joined Health Sciences South Carolina. Carek will focus on the group's statewide health care quality and clinical effectiveness initiatives and take part in leading and advancing the Healthcare Quality Center of Economic Excellence. Health Sciences South Carolina is a collaboration of universities and medical providers that works to improve the state's health and economic well-being.
Dr. Lauri Bullen has joined Mount Pleasant OB/GYN. She has a medical degree from Mercer University and completed her residency at Memorial Health University Medical Center in Savannah.
Nonprofit
Crisis Ministries has promoted Selena Wilson to clinical director. She began working at Crisis Ministries between 1995 and 2001 and rejoined the organization in 2006 as a case manager. Also, Jeff Yungman has been named director of legal services for the Homeless Justice Project. Yungman has 27 years of experience as a social worker and has worked for Crisis Ministries since 1999 as clinical director. He has a law degree from the Charleston School of Law.
Real Estate
LeGrand Elebash has been named chief operating officer of Christophe Harbour Co. Ltd., the master developer of a 2,500-acre residential-resort community planned for the island of St. Kitts by Charleston-based Kiawah Development Partners and HT St. Kitts Holdings. Elebash is responsible for overseeing all aspects of operations and will be based on St. Kitts. He most recently had a real estate consulting firm, Elebash Properties LLC. Previously he was chief operating officer of I'On Group LLC in Mount Pleasant.
Donna Durscher has joined AgentOwned Realty's office on N. Main Street in Summerville. She has more than 20 years of customer service and sales experience and specializes in relocations. She has been accredited by the National Association of Buyers Representatives.
Retail
Sheila Pierson has joined the sales staff at the West Ashley location of Floor it Now. She has more than 16 years of experience in the flooring and design industry and she specializes in builder programs and large scale commercial and residential projects. She attended the Art Institute of Minneapolis.
