Whiskey Trail: McCrady's barman Ben Mill and chef Sean Brock have launched a whiskey education program. Upcoming topics and dates are Aug. 15, the "Lincoln County Process" that produces Tennessee whiskey; Sept. 1, "All About Ryes"; and Sept. 15, "America's native spirit, Bourbon." Summerville Kitchen Tour: Ten homes and gardens in Summerville's Sumter Avenue area and gourmet goodies from Lowcountry chefs will be featured as part of the sixth annual Scrumptious Summerville Kitchen Tour on Oct. 12. Local musicians also will perform at each location, and the work of local florists will be on display. Proceeds benefit Children in Crisis, which operates Dorchester Children's Center to help abused and neglected children and their families.

Admission to a Designer Show House at the historic "Teacherage," 127 West 5th South St., is included with a Kitchen Tour ticket on Oct. 12 only. The house, which shows off the furnishing styles of local interior designers, will be open until Nov. 1, 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 1-4 p.m. Sundays. Tickets are $15 at the door from Oct. 13. Call 875-1551.
