Group still plans to move to S.C.

Saturday, August 2, 2008

ANDERSON — The leader of Christian Exodus says the group still hopes to create a Christian government in South Carolina, despite the decision by its founder to step down.

Keith Humphrey told the Anderson Independent-Mail the focus of the group is still to create an independent Christian nation.

Cory Burnell has stepped down as leader of the group that was supposed to move members to South Carolina to influence elections and possibly secede from the United States.

Burnell said he chose South Carolina because of its location, economic prospects, Christian influence and conservative voting history.

Burnell had planned to move to Anderson, but he said a job offer with a Seneca company was withdrawn. He said the pressures of self-employment and family have kept him from being an effective leader.

Just what we don't need - another whackadoo group coming to S.C. trying to mold the world in their own image. They must be drinking from the same poisoned Kool Aid that Obama followers are drinking from.

I've been meaning to alert y'all about Sheriff Nash's re-election campaign. He's embattled in a primary fight in Dorchester County. He is quite frankly the BEST friend of the US and South Carolina constitutions of all the sheriffs in the state - he's likely the best sheriff in the nation in this regard.

His friendship with CE over the past couple years makes it hard for us to publicly promote him because the media will be quick to write controversial nonsense should any connection with CE be thought to exist. So I'm asking you to do whatever you can in a personal capacity to help his campaign. Please spread the word about his campaign far and wide. Another thought is to give to his campaign financially if you're too far from Dorchester County to volunteer. Keep in mind that the media will likely latch onto out of state contributions in a negative way. To avoid this possibility, keep your total contribution to LESS than $100 per person and it will not have to be reported. For those of you in South Carolina, there is no such concern of course. Should you be out of state and desire to give more, consider having friends or family members write a check to the Nash campaign.

Checks can be made to Nash for Sheriff and mailed to PO Box 52384, Summerville, SC 29485.

Lastly, the email below is his campaign newsletter. You can sign up to receive it and stay abreast of the campaign at his campaign website: http://www.nashforsheriff.com/...

Yours in the Cause,
Cory

Wow, there is a real nut bar here today. I believe "a black, half-wit socialist" started the political, name calling rabbit. Tell us how 'angry' liberals are, why don't you, as long as you are at it? Let's see, "pissport toadying liberals, ... disasters caused by the left .... socialist ..."

"lol" makes it all civil, does it? Emoticons don't make this kind of noise meaningful and they don't make a rant part of a conversation. Rants make any points you might have awfully hard to hear let alone take seriously.

Excellent post.. And yes Obama is starting to tank. I think many will see his numbers going south now that it is time for people to get serious about the county. Obama won because there were many people that do not like Hillary or want any more of her husbands antics. All therse Liberials and getting voted out this Nov and the rest will be out the next election. They showed thier ass by not taking action on a drilling bill and I do not think people are going to forget that anything soon

Some people think in the middle- not everyone is a total "republican" or a total "democrat" I know you are going to curse me RW- but I agree with Obama on some things, but I also have to say that when it comes to National Security and defense- I would rather be in McCains hands- and I also feel that welfare needs to be um...gone- so where do I fit in? I am not being a smarty- just curious because I am new to learning about politics and I am trying to make an educated vote-- I would never not vote for someone because of their color though- that's for sure

This is in response to farfallaspeaks and proletariat:

Yes, Obama did win more votes in SC than McCain did, even though they ran in different primaries. Obama won 295,091 votes in the Democratic primary; McCain won 143,224 votes in the Republican primary. If you don't believe me, go to http://www.pbs.org/newshour/vote2008/.... I trust PBS. Let's just hope that this is a sign of how things will go in November.

And while I'm not surprised that one would choose SC to relocate to for an "independent Christian nation", I am surprised by the closed-mindedness of this group. And it's not Liberals or Conservatives than make me angry (per se), it's closed-minded people from either side, who are unwilling to listen to (and learn from) people with differing opinions!

RW (Redneck Without a clue)
You sit back and talk bout liberals like you have a clue what they are all about, but really you don't. Then you again, you only get your information from new organization that lie and embellish viewpoints.
Just because you are such an extremist doesn't mean everyone is as to the left as you are to the right.
The real shocking thing is how anyone can take you serious. By the way, how in the hell do you know what I read, what I believe in, or whether I hate god or not? From your rants it seems that you are only one step of the way from going into a liberal establishment (such as a Unitarian church) and killing liberals. I am sure that when you heard about the church shooting in Knoxville it probably made your day. Here is a truth for you; you are a grade A lunatic!

NAME ONE SUCCESSFUL PROGRAM
The GI Bill
Student Loans (two things that has allowed the middle class to afford a secondary education)
The Building of Infrastructure bringing things such as electricity to Appalachia.
FDR helped get many people out of the Great Depression through the new deal.
Civil Rights
I could go on, but why waste my time....
SO,WHY DON"T YOU LET ME KNOW OF ONE SUCCESSFULL LIBERTARIAN GOVERNMENT?
First of all there has never been a libertarian Governemnt thats been successful and the only one close to it around the turm of the century were atrocious. This was a time of robber barons, child labor and the Truck System (company store).
This little political expreriment didn't work and was changed quickly because it horribly went wrong. FACT

Conservatism; Exploitation of the less fortunate, Imposing the morals of Christianity on others, Enviromental exploitation, a lack of using reason or science to solve problems, no checks or balance system for corporations, lack of civil liberties, a runaway healthcare system, environemntal exploitation, Wealthy not paying their fair share of the tax burden, a lack of due process of the law, imperialism, lieing to the American People, fighting an unjust war for the exploitation of others resources. Yes, I could go on and on!
1st just because you are liberal does not make you a socialist, or anti-capitalism.
Socially I am liberal and proud of it. Also, Communism is not the same as my viewpoint whether you call me liberal or not. Communism is extreme socialism and very different.
Again, you try to make me to be as extreme as you are.
I have finished argueing with you because there is no point. You are sad and bitter man, and nothing I will change or do will change this fact.
