Friday, April 18, 2008
ENOREE — The State Law Enforcement Division is investigating the death of a 25-year-old inmate at a medium-security South Carolina prison. Corrections Department spokesman Josh Gelinas said Tommie Wilson was stabbed during an altercation with several inmates in a Tyger River Correctional Institution dormitory on Thursday afternoon and died shortly thereafter. Gelinas said an exact cause of death has not been determined. Since 2004, Wilson had been serving a 15-year sentence for multiple crimes.

Agreed, and I love your commercial for that teenaged Mt. Pleasant dirtbag, who, as the gunman, terrorized multiple victims in two separate armed robberies. I nevertheless wish him continued safety while in the care and custody of the South Carolina Department of Corrections.

I have no problem with a death penalty for violent criminals that commit crimes with a gun in their hands. I wish it were the standard penalty. I will agree that the death penalty should be assigned by the courts though, and not carried out randomly in a cell while serving a lesser penalty. When it does happen to someone serving a 10 or 15 year sentence... I won't lose any sleep over it.

Irish, since you find it neccessary to pull my post and paste into other threads, I will post my reply here also to ensure you the opportunity to read it~~
Your name calling shows to me what type of respect you have for people~~
Let's see what you call the teens in 8.5 yrs when they are dumped backed into society to be your neighbor after being with hardened criminals for 24 x 7 for 8.5 yrs rather than spending an appropriate amount of time being in counseling, rehab, and given the proper guidance to become a productive citizen for our community~
BTW, they victims (with the exception of the one that I suggested seek professional help to overcome the ordeal, so that he can follow his dreams) have forgiven and moved forward and even posted that they too think 10 yrs is too long and harsh a sentence for these kids!
