Goose Creek to get movie theater, bowling center

Friday, April 18, 2008

The city of Goose Creek is poised to get an large family entertainment complex anchored by an eight- to 12-screen movie theater and a bowling center in Cobblestone Village off Highway 176.

North Charleston-based Catalyst Development said it hopes to break ground within 90 days and open early next year.

'We have plans to build several additional restaurants on this site as well, and will be announcing them over the next 30 to 60 days,' said Katie Homrich, a partner in Catalyst Development.

The complex will be operated by the Starmax Entertainment Group.

Goose Creek Mike Heitzler said residents of the fast-growing city have been clamoring for a family-oriented place to eat and catch a movie without driving too far. Right now, the closest theaters are in Summerville or North Charleston.

'It will be wonderful way for folks to save fuel,' Heitzler said.

Wow that's great news. Wonder why they just don't convert some of these old grocery stores?
