Most local poker games not high-stakes
He was new in town, looking for a game, and got the e-mail of another poker player off a web site.
But when he showed up for the game in Mount Pleasant, they refused to let him in.
"Nobody knew me, or could vouch for me, so I couldn't play," the man, who asked not to be identified, said. "I had to leave, which was stupid, because if I was a cop, I already knew where the game was."

Everyone knows the cops are not going to come bust 4 or 5 guys having a game amongst friends. Al Cannon and the local chiefs just can't say that without causing a political stir from those involved in illegal casinos. Clearly they beat around the bush, they just can't say it.
If the house gets any kind of cut then it is an illegal casino - not friends meeting to play cards.
The guy in this article was trying to get into an illegal casino. Who tries to crash any kind of get together without being invited and knowing at least one person there? This guys was lucky he wasn't set up. "Hey New Guy in Town, you will not know anyone there, but how about show up at 123 Main Street with a pocket full of cash money and we will show you a good time."
