Today's Key Matchups
West Ashley (3-2) at Conway (4-1)
Last year: West Ashley won, 12-7
Notable: In what had to be the upset of last season, West Ashley, which entered the game winless, stunned Conway, which entered the game ranked No. 5 in the state. This year, the surprise element will not be there as West Ashley enters with a three-game winning streak, which includes three straight shutouts. Conway lost its season opener to Myrtle Beach, but has rallied for four straight victories, outscoring foes 135-59.
Keep an eye on: West Ashley kicker Ryan Stonaker. He's made 7-of-9 field goals, including a school record 47-yarder.
Did you know: This is only the second time the two schools have played.
PMB's pick: Conway, 27-17
Summerville (4-1) at Goose Creek (4-1)
Last year: Summerville won, 49-28
Notable: Summerville's A.J. Green had a big game last fall, scoring five touchdowns against Goose Creek, including four on receptions. Both teams have been impressive lately. Summerville blanked Stratford 24-0 last week for its fourth straight victory. Goose Creek hammered Battery Creek 61-12 for its fourth straight win. Goose Creek scored on its first five possessions against the Dolphins, who lost their 19th straight game.
Keep an eye on: Summerville linebacker Ben Ebert. He leads the Wave with 36 tackles and seven sacks.
Did you know: Goose Creek has won two of the last three against the Green Wave.
PMB's pick: Summerville, 28-27
Stratford (2-3) at Fort Dorchester (4-1)
Last year: Stratford won, 10-7
Notable: Stratford, trying to avoid its first losing season since 1995, is facing its second straight formidable opponent. Last week, Stratford dropped a 24-0 decision to Summerville. Fort Dorchester enters with a lot of motivation. Stratford handed the Patriots their first loss of the season in 2006 as they were penalized 13 times for 121 yards. Asheton Jordan scored the game-winning touchdown on a 2-yard pass with 3:33 left to play.
Keep an eye on: Geno Porter. He leads Fort Dorchester with 36 tackles, including three for a loss.
Did you know: Fort Dorchester hasn't defeated Stratford since 2001.
PMB's pick: Fort Dorchester, 28-10
