Announcements
MARTIN PARK COMMUNITY CENTER: The center, 155 Jackson St., features an after-school program 2:30-6:30 p.m. weekdays, including homework help, tutoring, intramural sports and swim lessons. The building is open 11 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Friday. Call 973-7222.
Turkey Day Mixed-Doubles Tennis Tournament: 2-6 p.m. Nov. 18. Charleston Tennis Center. Mixed-doubles round robin for all levels of play. $10 per person includes balls, refreshments, prizes and courts fees. Register by Nov. 16.
Charleston Thanksgiving Junior Classic Tournament: Nov. 23-25. Charleston and Maybank Tennis Centers. USTA-sanctioned Jr. Tournament Boys & Girls 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18 & under singles and doubles. Register by Nov. 17.
Youth Winter Sports Registration: Through Nov. 9. Basketball. Age groups: (5-6) Mighty Tots, (7-8) Pee Wee, (9-10) Small Fry, (11-12) Mite, (13-14) Midget; Girls (9-14) and (15-17) Jr. $25 City residents $55 nonresidents $15 late registration fee. Cutoff birth date: Feb. 28, 2008. Games will be played mostly on weeknights and Saturdays. The city of Charleston will provide shirts for participants to keep. Game sites and practices will be held at the following locations: James Island (James Island Recreation Center), West Ashley (Jewish Community Center), St. Andrews Parks & Playgrounds, downtown Charleston (City Gym), Daniel Island Middle School (Daniel Island).

Salsa Classes: Learn basic salsa dance moves and routines. Beginner classes 6:45-7:45 p.m. Wednesdays; intermediate salsa classes 7-8 p.m. Tuesdays. The cost for both classes is $10 per class.
