SI to hear report on dog ordinance

Findings of a study of the town's dog ordinance will be presented 9 a.m. Friday in Town Hall.

Students in he College of Charleston Environmental Community Outreach graduate class have conducted a study that analyzed and evaluated the Sullivan's Island dog ordinance. The students will provide an overview of their findings.

Daniel Island Holiday Festival

The Daniel Island Holiday Festival will be held from noon to 9 p.m. Saturday at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center.

The festival will feature holiday shopping, dance and musical performances and holiday food and beverages.

Richard Todd, local WTMA radio personality, will serve as Master of Ceremonies during the evening festivities, which will include more than 70 of Charleston's finest dancers, a lighting of more than 20 trees and a performance by Robin Harris & Friends. Capping off the evening will be a performance by Plane Jane, a dance and party band.

The Daniel Island Holiday Festival is a free event and open to the general public. Parking will be provided on Seven Farms Drive, Island Park Drive and at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center on Daniel Island.

2 local dancers take master class

Mount Pleasant School of Performing Arts dancers took a master class with Nick Lazzarini, the first winner of "So You Think You Can Dance?"

Both Rachel Tunney, 12, and Laura Bland, 13, two senior Southern Spotlight Competition Dancers, participated in the class held in Columbia.

The class was sponsored by the Columbia City Jazz Dance Company.

Author Lamb to speak on new book

Chris Lamb of Mount Pleasant will speak about his new book, "I'll Be Sober in the Morning: Great Political Putdowns, Comebacks, and Ripostes" tonight.

Lamb, a professor of communication at the College of Charleston will speak starting 6:30 p.m. at East Cooper Democrats at the Olive Branch AME Church, 1734 Highway 17 North, Mount Pleasant.

Santa's Closet seeks volunteers

Santa's Closet, a Christmas program to help local children and senior adults, needs volunteers to help in its store.

The program is sponsored by East Cooper Community Outreach. Volunteers will receive and distribute toys and clothing donations through Dec. 20. Santa's Closet is located in The Shoppes at Seaside Farms at Range Road and the Isle of Palms Connector. Archery deer hunt set for Dec. 3-8

Bulls Island's archery-only deer hunt will be held Dec. 3-8. The Cape Romain National Wildlife Refuge is one of more than 540 National Wildlife Refuges whose objective is to provide habitat for the conservation and protection of a variety of wildlife species. The harvest of surplus animals is one tool used to manage wildlife populations. Refuge hunting permits are required. To register for the hunt, call 928-3368 or 928-3264.
