Charleston County small business program to hold contracting seminar

Charleston County's Small Business Enterprise Program will hold three free workshops for area business owners to learn how to contract with the county.

The first two-hour workshop begins at 2 p.m. Thursday. Business owners can learn how to become certified by the county, locate bid opportunities and be placed on bid lists.

The other workshops are:

--2 p.m. Jan. 24: Participants will see an overview of the county's bid process and will be provided information about how to prepare a bid.

--6 p.m. Feb. 21: Participants will learn how to do business with the city, county, state and federal governments and will see an overview of the public procurement process.

All sessions will be held at the Lonnie Hamilton III Public Services Building, Room B339, 4045 Bridge View Drive, North Charleston.

Businesses can register online for the free seminars at www.charlestoncounty.org.

The county's Small Business Enterprise Program aims to help small companies compete for business with local, state and federal government agencies.

There are guidelines for certification under the program.
