The Mount Pleasant Skatepark (behind R.L. Jones Center) will host a day of complimentary skateboarding, snacks and drinks in celebration of national Go Skateboarding Day on Thursday from 1-5 p.m. The free event is open to all ages, but participants under age 9 must be accompanied by an adult (17 or older). All participants must have a signed waiver on file with the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department or can complete on the day of the event. BERKELEY PIRATES BASEBALL TRYOUTS: The Berkeley Pirates AAU/USSSSA baseball team is holding tryouts for ages 8-16 to fill positions for the upcoming season Saturday at 9 a.m. at the Alcoa fields in Goose Creek. Their will be a $20 tryout fee. Any questions please contact Paul at 330-9349.

MONCKS CORNER FOOTBALL/CHEERLEADING/SOCCER: Registration for youth football/cheerleading/soccer will be held July 2-20 at Moncks Corner Town Hall. Office hours are Monday thru Friday from 8 a.m.-5 pm. Age cut off date is November 30, 2007. Soccer is for co-ed ages 5-14 and football/cheerleading are ages 6-13. ICE SKATING LESSONS AT THE CAROLINA ICE PALACE: Eight week session runs July 7 to August 27. Classes for children ages 3-16, and adults 17-70. New Parent /Tot classes. Each class includes 1/2 hour of group instruction and 1/2 hour of practice time. JAMES ISLAND YACHT CLUB SAILING: Sailing classes for all levels of skill and age groups during the summer of 2007. Instructors are US Sail certified and class size is limited, assuring quality instruction with plenty of one on one attention. Beginning and advanced classes are offered during each session. All sessions are two weeks in duration. Boats are provided by the James Island Yacht Club. Although the yacht club will provide all necessary equipment, students are required to bring their own boat/deck shoes and a Type II flotation device. The classes will be run in half-day sessions. Sessions will start at 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. for one week, and 1 p.m.-5 p.m. the following week. Students can take more than one session, as skills learned will be used to build better and more advance techniques. Camp dates are June 25-July 6; July 16-27 and July 30-Aug 10. KIM DEESE BASKETBALL CAMP: Wando's Varsity Boys Basketball coach will conduct a camp from Monday through Friday. The camp is open to boys and girls from ages 5-13. It will be held at the Town Hall Gymnasium in Mount Pleasant. Register through the Mount Pleasant Recreation Department (884-2528). Costs are $90 for Mount Pleasant residents and $100 for non-residents.

CYCLONE CHAMPIONSHIP FOOTBALL CAMP WITH OVIE MUGHELLI: Porter-Gaud Head Football Coach Ricky Tillman will direct the camp Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to noon at the Porter-Gaud Football Stadium. Camp is open to rising third through ninth graders with emphasis on the fundamentals including skills, drills and strength training. Individual and group instruction. Former Porter-Gaud and current Atlanta Falcon Ovie Mughelli will make special appearances. Cost is $150 which includes drinks, snacks, camp T-shirt, picture and an autographed football.
