O'Hara & Flynn

O'Hara & Flynn Wine and Cheese Merchants, 1640 Palmetto Grande Dr., Mount Pleasant, will hold a beer tasting featuring high-gravity beers 5-8 tonight. Four to seven Belgian-style beers will be sampled for a cost of $5.

The shop will host a wine tasting 5-8 p.m. Friday featuring wines from National Distributors, focusing on summer wines. Cost is $5 per person, and there will be specials on cheese plates as well.

Fish hosts wine

Fish restaurant, 442 King St., will host Wine Wednesdays every week 5:30-8 p.m. Guests at the restaurant can enjoy live music by local performer Eddie Stonaker and half-price wine by the bottle. >Raval tasting

Raval at 453 King St. downtown will host its weekly Flight Night 5 p.m.-close Tuesday.

Three flights of wine will be offered, each featuring three different wines served in 3-ounce

(or half-glass) portions. Prices vary, depending on the wines selected. For more information, 853-VINO.

Evening wine flights

Amuse at 1720 Sam Rittenberg Blvd. in West Ashley features wine flights 5-7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday. Each flight features five different wines with a specific theme.

The cost is $5 for five (2-ounce) pours. The wines featured in the flights on any given evening also will be sold by the glass.

Tastings at J.Bistro

J.Bistro on Coleman Boulevard in Mount Pleasant will host a wine tasting 5:30-7:30 p.m. Tuesday. Pasquale Pellicoro will host. Guests may sample about four varietals while enjoying finger foods supplied by the restaurant. The cost is $10 per guest. Call 971-7778 for more information.

Social flights

Social, 188 East Bay St., features an array of wine flights nightly serving a trio of wines per flight in 2.5-ounce servings. Prices start at $10 a flight.

Reds are offered in eight flights, ranging from all Pinots to "cool-climate" reds. Seven flights of whites range from rosés to full-bodied aromatics.

Each of the wine groupings is designed to showcase how climate, soil, sun and vintner technique affect flavor and other factors. Staff also can recommend food pairings from the menu to complement each flight.

Social also features a wine-friendly menu of foods designed for sharing.
