Drive-by shooting leaves two teens wounded on West Side

Wednesday, June 13, 2007

— A drive-by shooting on Charleston’s West Side left two teens wounded early this morning, police said.

The 16-year-old and 19-year-old had been standing near the corner of Hagood and Allway streets shortly after 5 a.m. when a man opened fire from a green Ford Taurus, a police report states. The Taurus had driven by, then did a U-turn on Hagood before the shots.

The 16-year-old boy, wounded in the chest and stomach, was rushed to surgery at Medical University Hospital, police said. The 19-year-old man was treated and released for a bullet wound to his torso.

Police did not initially identify any suspects. A 14-year-old boy standing near the other teens was not injured.
