'Beet' bad health

The creation of Columbia-based nutritional and holistic health counselor Mary Kent Hearon, The Weekly Beet (www.theweeklybeet.com) is part blog, part newsletter and part soothing photo montage. The site draws from the author's experiences with clients as well as studies and books on health and wellness. Weekly posts explore topics including ways to boost immunity with supplements like elderberry, choosing natural sweeteners or healthier forms of sugar and tips to beat depression.

Hearon also provides her take on the healing powers of hot peppers and roses and seasonally themed posts on how to make holiday treats healthier and choose eco-friendly or all-natural gifts. The archives date back a few years, addressing some perennial topics including jet lag.
