Rockville changes election date

Current Rockville Town Council members will have an extra 17 months in office after voting unanimously Monday to change the town's election date.

Council members say they opted for the change to get on board with a statewide effort to establish a uniform date for elections. The change from June of even-numbered years to November of odd-numbered years will allow Charleston County's Board of Elections and Voter Registration to run the election.

Bike path to be lined with luminarias

The new Ashley River Road Bike and Pedestrian Path will be lined with luminarias from Village Green to Turnberry on Christmas Eve, part of St. Andrews Parish United Methodist Church's festivities.

The church, at 3225 Ashley River Road between Shadowmoss and Village Green, hopes to bring back the feeling of an old-fashioned Christmas by encouraging candlelight service attendees to walk down the illuminated pathway. Hot cocoa and cider will be served in the churchyard.

There will be two services, at 6 and 8 p.m., with music beginning 30 minutes prior to each.
