After re-writing the Ole Miss and SEC shot put records this season, Burke High School graduate Raven Saunders set her eyes on the NCAA mark on Saturday.

Saunders, an Ole Miss sophomore, set the NCAA’s indoor shot put record at the Iowa State Classic, uncorking a throw of 63 feet, 1.25 inches to break the previous mark of 63 feet, 0.75 inches set by Oklahoma’s Tia Brooks in 2013.

Saunders’ throw is the farthest by a female collegian ever.

Saunders, who won the NCAA indoor and outdoor titles last year as a freshman at Southern Illinois, now stands as the No. 4 indoor shot-putter in U.S. history. Only four women have throw farther — American indoor record-holder Jill Camarena-Williams, Michelle Carter, Ramona Pagel and Tressa Thompson. On the indoor and outdoor list, Saunders is No. 7 in U.S. history.

Saunders now owns the 14 best shot puts of the current college season.
