The 2015 football season opener between South Carolina and North Carolina has been moved to a Thursday night kickoff.
The game, originally scheduled for Sept. 5, will now be played Sept. 3 at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte and will be nationally televised.
"We are very excited to kick off the 2015 college football season right here in Charlotte," said Will Webb, Executive Director of the Charlotte Sports Foundation. "Hosting a game between these nationally known programs is tremendous for the city of Charlotte and the entire region.
"Playing the game on Thursday night to open the season on national television is a great honor."
The game time, television coverage and ticket information will be announced at a later date.
The Gamecocks and Tar Heels opened the 2013 season at Williams-Brice Stadium in Columbia. USC won the game, 27-10.
