Investigators have released a photo of a man they say grabbed money from a West Ashley convenience story early Tuesday morning.
Clerks said a man wearing all black walked into the Kangaroo Express at 4315 Savannah Hwy. shortly after midnight and asked for a white grape Garcia Vega cigar, according to an incident report from the Charleston County Sheriff's Office. When a clerk opened the cash register, the man pushed her back, grabbed the paper money in the drawer and ran out the door, according to the report.
Clerks said the man was dark-skinned and in his early 20s. Investigators did not find fingerprints in the store but found a footprint outside the store, according to the report. They were also processing the dollar bill the man handed a clerk and the cash drawer for evidence.
The sheriff's office released a surveillance photo Tuesday. Anyone who recognizes the man is asked to call dispatch at 743-7200 or leave a tip with Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
