The Medical University of South Carolina's Weight Management Center is offering free weight-loss classes for low-income residents starting this weekend.

MUSC's Weight Management Center will host weekly weight-loss classes at two locations:
St. Andrews Family Fitness
1642 Sam Rittenburg Blvd.
10:30 a.m. to noon starting Saturday
MUSC Institute of Psychiatry
67 President St.
6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. starting Tuesday

The 10-week program begins Saturday at St. Andrew's Family Fitness in West Ashley and on Tuesday at the MUSC Weight Management Center on campus.
Participants will meet weekly at either location. Each session will be led by students and supervised by staff. They will cover topics including managing diabetes and high blood pressure, exercising at home and healthy cooking.
Adults must be at least 18 years old and Medicaid-eligible to qualify.
