Four teens attempted to rob a supermarket on Rivers Avenue, but got away with nothing, North Charleston police said.

The manager at Red and White Supermarket, 6550 Rivers Ave., called police after the teens stormed into the business with guns and demanded money around 10 a.m. Monday, according to an incident report.

A customer walked into the store as the teens attempted to open a cash register. The teens then ran out of the store with nothing, police said.

The teens were known to hang around the shopping center, according to the report. The teens stole candy and other items from the store in the past, the manager told police.

The suspects were all black males who appeared to be between 14 and 16 years old, police said. Each wore a shirt wrapped around his head as a disguise, according to the report.

Anyone with information about the attempted armed robbery can contact Crime Stoppers at 554-1111.
