Two pedestrians were hit and badly hurt on Folly Beach early Saturday morning, and a suspect was arrested when police found a damaged vehicle that matched the description at his house.
Two people were walking on West Ashley Avenue between 2nd and 3rd streets around 2:15 a.m. when a 2004 Honda CRV swerved off the road, hit them both and fled from the scene, according to Charleston County Sheriff's Maj. Eric Watson.
Both pedestrians were taken to Medical University Hospital, one in serious condition and the other in critical condition, he said.
Folly Beach police located a vehicle that matched the description at house on Roper Road about 11 a.m. Saturday, Watson said.
The vehicle had severe damage to the windshield and the left front headlight, he said.
The resident, Andrew Robert Lanzaro, 30, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with bodily injury and booked into the Charleston County jail.
A bond hearing is scheduled for 10 a.m. Sunday.
