The Charleston County Sheriff's Office responded around 7:45 p.m. to the Family Dollar at 6245 Highway 162, according to an incident report.
Witnesses told deputies that a man had taken a can of iced tea to the storefront and handed the clerk some cash to pay for the drink. But he seemed nervous, the report stated.
When the clerk opened the cash register, the man reached over the counter and stole about $145, according to the document.
He left the can of Lipton iced tea in a bag at the dollar store, the report stated, as he ran toward a nearby Piggly Wiggly supermarket.
The robber was described as a 20- to 25-year-old black man who was wearing a black hat, a black T-shirt, black pants, white socks and white tennis shoes at the time, witnesses told the deputies.
He was not immediately captured or identified in the report.
