A West Ashley man was arrested Wednesday on charges that he pointed a gun at his girlfriend and pulled the trigger, then did the same to himself, according to an incident report.
But there's no indication in the document that the firearm went off.
Brent Lewis Harper, 42, of West Ashley faces a charge of criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature in connection with an Aug. 25 incident at his apartment. He was being held Thursday afternoon at Charleston County's jail.
His arrest stemmed from an encounter Monday, when Harper's girlfriend said they were drinking and having a good time at his home at the Colonial Village Apartments, according to the report.
But when she went to sit on the couch in the living room, Harper pulled out a firearm, pointed at the woman's face and pulled the trigger twice, the document stated. He also turned the gun on himself and squeezed the trigger, then put it into his mouth and under his chin, according to the paperwork.
The 43-year-old woman, who left to stay with her mother, reported the episode the next day, the police said.
