An arrest has been made after a Lincolnville man reported an intruder in his back yard who shot at him earlier this month.
The West Pine Street resident told Charleston County deputies he saw a man in his back yard about 4 a.m. Aug. 19 and went outside to tell him to leave. The intruder fired a shot that hit the door frame, according to the incident report. The resident said the man may have been trying to steal his boat.
Deshawn Bovair Hicks, 32, of Mason Street was arrested Wednesday and charged with assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, first-degree burglary, discharging a firearm into a dwelling and possession of a firearm during a violent crime. He was being held on Thursday in the Charleston County jail on bail that totaled more than $1 million.
Hicks' criminal history includes a previous conviction for possession of a stolen motor vehicle, and he was on probation at the time of his latest arrest.
