A second 27-year-old man was arrested Tuesday on charges that he and an accomplice robbed two people at gunpoint earlier this month in downtown Charleston, police said Wednesday.
Rockene Lamont Ladson of Fort Johnson Road on James Island faces two counts of armed robbery in connection with the Aug. 3 incident on Wentworth Street, according to Charleston Police Department spokesman Charles Francis.
Ladson remained early Wednesday afternoon in Charleston County's jail. Bail had not been set for him.
Isaac Nathaniel Toomer Jr., also 27, of Balsam Street in West Ashley had been arrested on the same charges two days after the alleged crime. Toomer has been jailed ever since in lieu of $100,000 bail.
The robbery was reported around 2 a.m. that day after the men approached the two victims as they walked to a Wentworth Street home between Meeting and Anson streets, Francis said. One of the men had a handgun, Francis added.
The victims were robbed of their wallets and a cellphone.
