Firefighters from across the country are expected to take part in a memorial service Thursday for Goose Creek firefighter Steve Skipton, Sr., Skipton died Saturday after a battle with cancer.
The viewing will take place from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Northwoods Assembly at 2600 N. Main St. in Summerville, followed by a "Full Firefighter Honors Memorial Service," according to sconfire.com, a site co-owned by Skipton.
Fire departments are invited to include their trucks in the funeral procession.
Here is the procession route:
North Main Street to College Park Road; College Park Road to Crowfield Boulevard; Crowfield Boulevard to St. James Avenue. Goose Creek firefighters and family will turn left to the McAlister-Smith Funeral home.
All other vehicles will turn right onto St. James Avenue and meet for a reception at the Goose Creek Fire Department, Station 1, at 101 Button Hall Ave. in Goose Creek.
