U.S. Rep. Jim Clyburn will be at the Harvey B. Gantt Center for African-American Arts and Culture in Charlotte Thursday to sign copies of his new autobiography, "Blessed Experiences: Genuinely Southern, Proudly Black" (University of South Carolina Press, $34.95), according to a story posted on Reading Matters, the Charlotte Observer's blog about books and reading.
The book is about Clyburn's journey as a civil rights leader from the Jim Crow-era South to his current role as a congressman and key Democratic Party leader. Clyburn, D-S.C., will be on hand from 5:30-9 p.m., on Thursday at the center which is at 551 S. Tryon St. in Charlotte.
Clyburn, who represents South Carolina's 6th Congressional District, faces Republican Anthony Culler in the November election.
