A Summerville man who won $1 million in a state lottery game plans to pay off some bills and save the rest, much to his wife's chagrin, the S.C. Education Lottery said in a statement Tuesday.
The man, who wasn't identified, claimed his winnings Monday in the Mega Millions game. The numbers were drawn Aug. 19 after the man bought the ticket at a Publix supermarket on State Road in the Cane Bay area.
The odds of winning $1 million in the game are about 1 in 18.5 million.
"I'm not going to change the way I live, though my wife wants to," the man said in the statement.
Publix will get a $10,000 commission for selling the winning ticket.
