Bethel United Methodist Church recently celebrated two of its most senior members: 99-year-old Marjorie Bach Wolff and 97-year-old Louise Thompson.
Both women attended the church's service Aug. 17, the same month when the church celebrates the dedication of its building dating back to 1853.
Wolff is a native Charlestonian who still remembers years spent at The Charleston Orphan House. The Memminger High School graduate is the mother of two who continues to live independently.
Thompson, who turned 97 this month, moved to Charleston in 1942. She then taught Sunday School at Bethel UMC for 70 years.
Thompson, who worked as a nursing assistant, also still lives independently.
